RECOMMENDED CLEANING SOLUTIONS

Cleaning Solution: Sterile Saline (0.9% Sodium Chloride), Hypochlorous Acid (0.01%)
Using the correct cleaning solution is crucial for safe healing. Iris Olivia Body Piercing recommends the following:

◆ Saline is gentle, non-irritating and mimics the body's natural fluids, promoting healing
◆ Spray directly onto the piercing twice daily
◆ Let it sit for 30 seconds, then gently dab away excess with a clean gauze or disposable tissue
◆ Allow piercing to air-dry or pat dry with a paper towel. Avoid fabric towels as they can harbour bacteria

GENERAL CLEANING TO ROUTINE

◆ Wash hands thoroughly before touching or cleaning the piercing
◆ Spray the cleaning solution onto the piercing site twice daily
◆ Let the solution sit for 30 seconds, then gently dab away any crusting with a clean, disposable material such as gauze or cotton swab
◆ Do not rotate, twist or move the jewellery, as this can cause irritation and delays healing
◆ Pat dry using a disposable paper towel or clean gauze. Avoid fabric towels as they can harbour bacteria

SIGNS OF INFECTION

It is normal for a healing piercing to be slightly red, tender or have some clear, whitish discharge. However, seek medical attention if you experience:

◆ Persistent redness, heat or swelling around the piercing
◆ Thick, yellow or green pus indicating infection
◆ Severe pain or throbbing that worsens over time
◆ Fever or flu-like symptoms

If an infection is suspected, Do not remove the jewellery, as this can trap bacteria inside and worsen the issue. Seek medical assistance for possible antibiotics

PIERCING SPECIFIC AFTERCARE

ORAL PIERCINGS (Tongue, Lip, Labret,etc.)

◆ Rinse your mouth after eating, drinking or smoking with an alcohol-free antibacterial mouthwash or saline solution
◆ Avoid spicy, acidic or hot foods for the first few days
◆ Reduce swelling by sucking on ice cubes and drinking cold water
◆ Be mindful of jewellery to prevent biting down on it

NAVEL (Belly Button) PIERCING

◆ Avoid tight clothing that may rub against the piercing
◆ If exposed to friction (e.g. while sleeping or exercising) use a breathable waterproof dressing for protection

EAR & FACIAL PIERCINGS

◆ Be cautious with hair products, makeup and skincare products near the piercing
